How to Get Rid of Ringworm

When you consider its name, it’s surprising that ringworm does not actually have anything to do with worms. This infection, caused by fungus, has worm-like edges. It is contagious and can be passed through human contact. You may get ringworm from another person, an animal, or using a personal care item that’s infected. It can be itchy and very uncomfortable. By learning how to get rid of ringworm, you can clear up your infection fast.

Garlic

Because of all of its natural health benefits, garlic is a clear choice for ringworm treatment. You may need to use this remedy every day, as garlic is not as strong as other natural or conventional treatments.

  1. Pick out 2 to 4 garlic cloves, depending on how large your ringworm infection is.
  2. Run the garlic cloves through a food processor until they form a thick paste.
  3. Carefully dab the garlic on your ringworm, making sure the entire affected area is coated.
  4. Cover the ringworm with a bandage or piece of gauze to hold the garlic in place.
  • Ideally, you should do this overnight to give the garlic time to begin killing your ringworm. However, you can also rinse it off after a few hours.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is one of the most powerful treatments for getting rid of ringworm. Because it is naturally antifungal, it can help you clear up your infection without conventional treatments.

  1. Pour out 2 ounces of olive oil or lavender oil.
  2. Stir in 2 to 4 drops of tea tree oil.
  3. Soak a cotton ball in the oil mixture.
  4. Rub the entire area affected by ringworm with the cotton ball.
  • Be careful to avoid touching your non-infected skin. You do not want to spread the infection around your body.

Vinegar and Salt

While vinegar on its own can treat ringworm, you can get even faster results by combining it with salt.

  1. Pour 1 or 2 tablespoons of vinegar into a bowl.
  2. Slowly add salt until the mixture forms a thick paste.
  3. Coat the ringworm with the salt mixture.
  4. After 5 minutes, rinse it off with warm water.
  5. Repeat once per day for 7 days.
